A Bump was a Pearl

Hello! My name is Johanna Hibbard. My short film, "A Bump was a Pearl" is playing in the experimental showcase #2. I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband and our three little kids. I used to be a film professor (til I had 3 kids). I have been making films since 1994 (and screening at Big Muddy since '98 - thank you BMFF!)
A student's mother became ill with breast cancer and subsequently died. "A Bump was a Pearl" was inspired by my relationship with my student and his mother: I had an infant son, she had a college-age son; we both enjoyed knitting. We would pass notes back and forth through her son about knitting and motherhood.
